Welcome to my Teaching English as an Additional Language portfolio! My name is Alex McLellan, and I am launching a new adventure in career, travel, and life as a whole.
While teaching English is my latest endeavour, I have spent the last ten years in the field of education. I have been a professional advocate for accessible, affordable, and high-quality post-secondary education that empowers those who strive to realize their full potential, personally and civically. In this role, I have engaged in research, policy development, government relations, community building, and project management. It has been, however, in my growing focus on facilitating the growth and leadership of student representatives that I have begun to see myself not only as an advocate of education, but as an educator in my own right.
On this site, you can join me in exploring my growth as an educator. I will translate my passion for the role of education in society into a personal philosophy of teaching. This will be informed by my studies as well as critical reflections on teaching I observe and teaching I undertake myself. The outcomes of my professional development can also be understood through my lesson plans, resume, and other examples of impact throughout my career.
I hope this journey is also one of cultural growth and fun! It is my intention to move to South Korea to teach and to explore a new place and new people. As someone dedicated to education, I am also committed to life-long learning in the broadest sense.
